Last year a local resident launched an investigation into DuPage Townhip's payment of $40,000 for Senior trips. That resident wanted to know who went on the trip, did attendees contribute to the trip, who arranged the trip, etc.
Bill Mayer of the DuPage Township denied her FOIA's. This denial went all the way to Lisa Madigans office. Lisa Madigan has left numerous messages for this information and the Township is denying it and not responding to the one person in IL that prosecutes elected officials for corruption.
So what is there to hide? For one, the person that wrote the check is now a Trustee. Coincidence?
Secondly, did taxpayers pay for vacations of employees and residents?
Third, why are you hiding the list of attendees, the costs, and information?
Most importantly, why is the reimbursement from residents and employees NOWHERE on the financials? We show the loss but not the return.
In conclusion, we feel that DuPage Township should be held accountable to the residents to justify this alleged corruption scandal. The courts should make the Supervisor pay this money back to the taxpayers.
As a reminder of whom the Supervisor Bill Mayer is, do you remember the story last year about how he went on the Boston trip and was seen in provocative man on man positions with other elected officials? Why was he at a School conference when he is a Township employee?
Why did he authorize hundreds of thousands to build a memorial to Roger Claar called the Roger Claar gardens, while increasing our taxes? Why does he use tax payer money to donate to CSC? Why does authorize contracts to his day job company when that is unethical and pass bills paid to them monthly? We could go on and on... This is the same man whom dressed as a turkey and called the media to come out for free turkey giveaway to the poor, driving the poor away from the pick up lines so they were not seen as "needy" by their neighbors, friends, or family and suffer further embarrassment. Let's not forget his biggest issue... taking donations from companies that the Federal government arrested the owners for corruption.
Remember his name at election time, if nothing happens to him sooner. Vote him out.
I would suggest that you come to the Senior Center yourself and ask the Seniors who went on the trip and how much they paid. This accusation is absolutely absurd, and has been explained numerous times. The names of these seniors have been withheld for privacy issues and was authorized by Lisa Madison herself. Please get your facts straight before you sling false information. You only make yourself look foolish.
ReplyDeleteMoral of the story, (once again), seniors paid township, township paid said trustee who was our travel agent at the time, (and not a trustee, not that it matters), and she paid the Cruiseline, excursion desk, bus companies, etc.... Not a dime came from any taxpayers dollars. Supervisor Mayer did not attend this trip. It was I, the Senior Director that escorted the seniors on this cruise, and was comped the cost of my trip by the cruiseline for taking 50 people on the trip. Merely an incentive to sign up as many guests as you can. Everyone enjoyed themselves immensely and I assure you that we will be going again to another destination. I am giving this information to the people, if any, that read this nonsense, so they know the truth. Again, I implore you to ask the seniors themselves who funded their vacations and I assure you they wil tell you the same thing. Our office hours are 8:30 - 4:30, Monday thru Friday. I am in the office most days, unless I am out with the seniors on a day trip. Stop in any time.

ReplyDeleteIf this was true, why is it not on the financials? Lets compromise here, why don't you finally return Lisa Madigan's calls, get her the proof, she will get it to us, and we will write a retraction if we are wrong. It seems an easy enough request if you feel there is no wrong doing here.
If they are doing something wrong, why hasn't Lisa Madigan's office filed any charges?
