A Tribute to Number Crunchers

With Illinois ranked number three of all the states in political corruption, it is important for the people of the area to step up.  Although the conviction rate is high, the only politicians being incarcerated are the high ranking officials.  However, when you think about where they came from, you realize they were corrupt when they were politicians at a county level or even at a municipal level first.  It is this group of people (municipal and county) that join strong fronts that enable corruption.  They swing with their party's demands and forget they represent the people of the village, town, city, or county in which they reside.  It is the main reason the independent movement is growing so strong.

When a resident, such as Rhonda Reed Slaughter sees the corruption, steps up and wages a battle against it, she becomes a local hero.  Rhonda's story is a touching one.  She decides to get involved in politics, sees the corruption, starts digging for answers and starts a web site to inform the voting residents, so that they can vote the people out.  The only enemy of a corrupt politician is an informed voter.

So Rhonda sticks her neck out to start and operate a web site called the Number Crunchers for three years.  She runs against the mafia style Republican Party in attempts to inform the public.  She finds that the public is unsympathetic and won't vote anyhow, so she steps back from the web site and devotes more time to family, friends, and careers that will benefit her.  Putting those things on hold for three years and devoting time to a cause that is unpaid and unwanted (in the current political parties eyes) is a tough thing. As Bonnie states. "Rhonda is one strong woman.  She is educated, powerful, and insightful.  She is caring and willing to give her time and energy into this cause.  She pushed back bullies, stopped people from pocketing tax payer cash, and never ran from the local mafia.  She stood tall for Bolingbrook.  She stood strong for the residents.  She is a pillar in the community and will never be forgotten.  I hope her path will cross corruption again."

So for Rhonda Reed Slaughter and those who contributed to her site, we hail you as the hero of the month.

We sincerely thank you for watching out for corruption and informing the public.  For taking a stand against power, to stand with the everyday person in our community.  For calling out the wrongs, and pushing to make right.  You can't help it if the current officials are blind to the people.  You can't help it if the current officials are idiots who only care about how to fatten their wallets.  You showed the people you cared and you donated time to that cause.  You will always be able to look int he mirror and feel proud.  You have something your children can be proud of you for.  In the end, that makes you a winner Rhonda et al.  You have served your country respectfully.  We bid your site farewell, but we won't bid you a goodbye.  The fight is not over....

Thanks, Bolingbrook Report. I appreciate the kind words, and wish you luck. It's important that the community embrace the dissenting voice. Debate is not a bad thing, it's good for the community.

    Good luck!
