Residents want to know if they should vote for Trustee Schanks

Trustee Pat Schanks has served for many years.  Her husband was politically connected and it is rumored that the good ol' boy network got her in this position.  There is a S. Schanks on Village Payroll making over $95K per year as well.  We have received many emails asking if she should be re-elected.  We decided to put the question back into your hands.

Pat Schanks makes between $10K to $15K per year as a trustee (see 2010 Treasurers Report).  Her job is to attend 20 meetings a year.  This breaks down to $500 - $750 per half hour to two hour meeting.  Trustees are suppose to read the bills and agendas before the meeting, ask any questions about the issue, and be prepared to vote for the best interest of the residents.

Some residents have recently commented that she sleeps during meetings and wakes up to "second" every motion.  Some swear she is good at what she does.

We took the stats from the last year (Jan 2010 to current) and counted how many votes per meeting she sat for.  There was a total of 296 calls for votes.  Of these, she responded as first or second motion approving 117 of these votes.  Therefore, she voted yes on 40% of the total bills, agenda items, and other items needing passing.  She abstained from approx. 60% of the votes.  This means she did not participate at all for these votes.  Out of the 117 she voted for plus the number she abstained from, she offered NOT ONE SINGLE "NO" vote.

Some would say this places her 40% responsible first hand for passing the $400MiL debt.  Some would say that NOT voting places her responsible, or 100% responsible, for the $400Mil debt.  The fact that she STILL has not voted no, even though we write about the rubber stamping all the time, is not a good thing.

The question to our audience is...
1.  Do you feel she is responsible for 0, 40, 60, or 100% of the extreme debt?
2.  Do you think she knows what she is "seconding" on the motions when they pass it?
3.  Is she aware that most of the bills she seconded were not the best bid for the work?
4.  Is she awake during these meetings or partially asleep?  (Watch videos to determine)
5.  Does she know that she voted on businesses to do work in Bolingbrook that had no right to be in Bolingbrook (Mafia, top campaign donors, etc)?
6.  Does she realize she is a rubber stamp trustee with a voting record of "0" NO votes?

Once you answer these questions, you can decide if you still want her to be in office. Choose wisely during this election, as you FINALLY have a choice of people to vote for.
