Keeping an Eye on New Business

As a Watchdog group, we like to follow leads.  Sometimes we follow leads but cannot follow them farther until time permits or time passes.  However, we like to keep an eye on Village business.
For example, one lead was about a new company called US Flag Now, which has recently been getting money from the Village.  They were recently incorporated in Feb of this year through the state of IL.  We will be further investigating this business.  In the meanwhile, know when you send a lead, it takes time to process.
Don't stop sending them though!

  1. If you would have bothered to read the WHOLE Accounts Payable Bill Listing, you would have seen that the Village paid $650 for a 20' x 38' US Flag and $550 for a 20' x 30' US Flag.

  2. Plainfield School District 202 got a donation of $12,761.60 from the village. Do you know what that donation consisted of?

  3. I see someone commented about flag purchases, but I did not see in the article that they questioned what was purchased. I think this person was out of line. It is NOT what they paid for, it is what company they chose to use. This company is owned by a Maripat according to the State Web site, so I can see why it is being investigated.

  4. The doing a little research, $650 for a 20'X 38' looks like they got a pretty good deal. The cost from other flag companies is in the $800-$1,000 range.

$550 for the 20'X30' is also not a bad price. Most are in the $600-$850 range.

  5. If a Maripat owns this company, and it is a new company, is this not favoratism with our tax money?

  6. Sam I am,

Not if the flags were purchased for a fair price with no strings attached. If they bought them from another company for a higher price, I'm sure that you would be complaining that they wasted tax money and should have got them cheaper.
