Karen,
I am sorry to bother you, but I think it is important that we resolve a regular problem in Bolingbrook transparency.
I received my FOIA on Friday, and the file was sent in Photoshop. Not only can I not open it, but I am wondering why it was sent from a software program that is used to "doctor" and "alter" documents.
Furthermore, how many residents are getting their FOIA in this manner? Do you know the cost to purchase this version of Photoshop is $699.00 plus tax? Is it expected that the residents must purchase this software to view their FOIA's? Is it reasonable for the residents to assume that each document they receive is doctored? This is the third time this has happened to me this year. How do we build trust in the local government and the FOIA laws when we think that our responses are altered and doctored?
I know I have had this issue in the past and asked kindly to have this resolved. Can you please send me my FOIA in a readable format. Can you also let me know what steps will be taken to ensure that the FOIA laws in Bolingbrook are being followed to fix this problem? I look forward to your response.
Thanks,
Bonnie Alicea
Will you print Karen's response when Bonnie gets it?
ReplyDeleteWhile PSD files are saved in a proprietary format, they can be opened directly with Apple Preview, which is included with Mac OS X. They can be also opened by the media programs included with Windows 7 if the correct codec, such as the Ardfry PSD codec, is installed. These programs include Windows 7 Photo Viewer, Windows 7 Media Center, and Windows Media Player.
ReplyDeleteAlso can be opened with GIMP, a free download.
Bonnie,
ReplyDeleteI have forwarded your issue to the Village of Bolingbrook FOIA Officer, Fran Miller. She will respond in a timely manner.
Thanks,
Karen
