PRESS RELEASE
October 13, 2010
The Black Bar Association of Will County Will Not Endorse any Candidates
The Black Bar Association of Will County (BBA) is a non-partisan association and does not endorse candidates for elected office.
It has come to the attention of the BBA that several candidates preparing for the upcoming election have included endorsement language referencing our association in campaign materials. BBA, established in December 2007, has worked diligently to carry out its mission “To Seek Justice.” The association, in advocating for justice, hosted a candidate forum to encourage citizens to learn more about those individuals seeking office. Additionally, individual association members have volunteered for various campaigns. Moreover, several BBA members past and present serve in elected office. Notwithstanding our commitment to service in the political process, it has been and continues to be the policy and practice of this association to abstain from endorsing any candidates.
We encourage our members to vote, as is the responsibility of all citizens, but as an association remains non-partisan. To that end, BBA requests any candidate who has listed this association in any manner contradictory to its non-endorsement policy to immediately remove all such references. This request includes removal of BBA endorsement language from all social media or networking websites as well as printed campaign materials.
Thanks to all candidates for taking the time to serve the community and for helping make Will County a better place to live, work and grow.
Sincerely,
Masah SamForay
Masah SamForay
President
Black Bar Association of Will County
