There are a few pro's to bringing in water to a Bolingbrook run operation... again.
It COULD lower the rates, but that is NOT guaranteed. Matter of fact the officials have said they cannot promise this.
It COULD bring local jobs, but that is NOT guaranteed. Matter of fact the officials have said they cannot promise this.
What they do not focus on is the CON'S.
It will cost Bolingbrook more bond debt when purchasing this. What this means is that this bond debt will be divided amongst the residents and increase your taxes... alot.
It will not be able to lower the water bill much, if at all.
It will be managed by the local government, not private, which means the services can be cut, moved, or spent with money the Mayor and his rubber stamp trustees control.
Public water agencies could form boards that mis-use and even steal the money. (See Du Page Water Authority and what happened there...)
The legal bills will be extreme, passing the cost to the taxpayers.
On top of the bond debt and legal fees, the Village can tack on fees to the residents, like the waste water fee of $2 which pays for NOTHING.
In conclusion,
Is this worth it?
