Bonnie had outlined a game plan over a year ago using strategy and personality predictability. She has attended 12 years of college studying business and psychology and worked with the Independent Party to concoct her idea of what would happened during this election and how to get a jump on the competition. Now we are three days until game time and Bonnie has set up her final pieces to take the queen.
Last year she highlighted the fact that if she ran for Trustee and came out swinging in September, Roger would put all his money on getting rid of her. She started by shouting from the roof tops she was going to run, when most candidates don't state they are running until their signatures are collected. While she worked at gathering signatures, she set up tons of Q&A sessions on this blog site. She added her profile to the Independent Party site. Although she would have loved to be in the race, she knew it was more important to get three good candidates on the ballot for the first time in 20 years!
Low and behold, they spent their time and money trying to get Bonnie off the ballot and defend the school board incumbents, splitting their attorney time in 4 different directions. The move Bonnie made did wonders and five candidates squeezed into place. They celebrated their first success for the residents.
Since odds are bad with five against three, the independents appeared to try to close the odds by George Smith objecting to the Republican (all incumbents are Republican) candidate Ken Cygan. However with Cygan's vote splitting the incumbent RINO vote, it actually ended up being important to keep Cygan there and make the odds 4 to 4. So the objection took place and had the Mayor and his attorney running again, but this was a feint move that Claar completely fell for. Mr. Claar failed to see the real intent ahead of time was to make public Roger's support for Cygan and now Roger has his RINO bloc for destroying Bolingbrook financially voting split between the incumbents and Cygan.
Now Claar is in a rough position. He has 4 running against 4. Cygan is splitting the incumbent RINO votes and diluting the voting pools for Republicans. This strengthens the vote for Bob and Rhonda.
Claar never saw this strategy coming and failed to see that he is so predictable, that Bonnie and other independents could put together a game plan so cunning that it could cost him some positions on the board this year. Now his people are running crazy!
Another thing they did not plan was media control. Roger has always had it, and nobody else could run and succeed. Since this site came to be two years ago, we have become the leading voice for news in Bolingbrook and tell it like it is. He could not buy us out or offer our kids scholarships from his pay-to-play slush fund to write fluffy articles about him. This has hurt his campaign as well this year.
It would appear that Bonnie is one step ahead of him and he is playing catch up. However, this game ends on Tuesday when people come out to vote. The bottom line is, no matter who wins or loses, Bonnie played the game right. Roger failed to see the chess pieces lining up. Now he has one candidate who stole signs. Two candidates that are past retirement age. And he is left holding the bag of $200+ Million in unwarranted debt, asking himself what happened.
