Residents can expect their property tax bills to arrive about May 1. Payments are due in June and September.
School districts take up most of the tax bill of 72.6 percent. Municipalities comprise 10.2 percent.
Although property taxes have dropped all around the country due to drops in property values, the same does not hold true in Bolingbrook. Bolingbrook continues to assess at a higher rate to accommodate the debts needed. You will see an increase is almost all of your taxing bodies come May.
Remember, it is during the recession that the Library was built, the Police Department was constructed, and the schools added high debts.
Your taxes will reflect all these high costs.
Be prepared, you will be one of the highest percent taxing bodies in the US. Compare your property taxes to states like Florida paying prime property cities at $2K a year in taxes for a $200K assessed value home with 2,400 sf.
We will report the percentages and increases shortly.
