DuPage Township, Here Comes the Watch Dogs!

Compared to other townships, Du Page Township ranks the lowest in Transparency.  Matter of fact, the only thing they do post for transparency, is what is required to be posted by law.  Therefore, the one thing they do is post directions on how to FOIA, according to IL Sunshine Laws.
Many other local townships (DG, Homer, Lemont, Lisle, Lockport, Naperville, Plainfield, and Wheatland) post much more information that Du Page Township does not.  Why, when the residents cry to remove Du Page Township completely, don’t they become more transparent to the residents, just to keep their jobs?  I mean, what is stopping people from voting on a referendum next election to remove the entire Township offices and reduce their tax bill!
Here is what their web site does NOT reveal, even though local Townships do.
They do not post the meeting agenda’s, locations, times, or meeting minutes. They do not want residents to go or know what they are up to.
They do not post their annual budgets.
They do not even post their monthly statements or revenues and expenditures.
They do not post their elected officials salaries.
They do not post their annual audited financial statements.
In light of previous stories we have already pointed out the allegation that Township Elected Supervisor Bill Mayor votes at meetings to give money to his company, of which he works during the day.  He has hired a Village Trustees son for $32K a year to host activities that the park district could do.  He supplies free rent to CSC, a non-profit organization that is loaded with elected officials.  So we know he is hiding a lot already.  He used tax dollars in excess of $200K to build a garden honoring Roger Claar. I guess a statue was not enough.  I think it is time we turn our attention to this organization as well and become the gum that sticks to the bottom of their shoes.  (You know it is there, but no matter how hard you try to get rid of it or hide it, it won’t go away. )  So lookout Du Page Township, here comes the watch dogs!

  1. Shirley Valevicius, DuPage Township Collector, and only Democrat elected to a Township position, did confront Bill Mayer on Township expenditures and donating to certain pet charities, as well as having a deficit in the budget. His answer was the Banquet facility run by the Township is in the black and covers any deficit. This, however does not make up for -approx. negatives of $37K in the general fund and neg $42K for the Levy Center.
