Ancient Native American camps, modern Native American camps, French trappers, early settlers of the prairie from out east, and the Boughton family farm - ALL once existed at the north end of Kings Road IN BOLINGBROOK. (at the fork of the DuPage River) But now, the clueless government of Bolingbrook is planning to literally "pave over" the most historic and beautiful spot on the entire river...and for what? A useless bridge to the other side.
HAVE YOU DRIVEN ACROSS THE RIVER ON WEBER/NAPER LATELY? Holy crap its like driving on the moon.
So rather than fix it, and keep it from flooding, we need ANOTHER bridge? And we need to destroy history to do it? Ask yourself this - how many historic places have you visited in Bolingbrook? 1 maybe 2? Now how many PRE-historic sites have you visited? The answer is none. Not because they aren't there, but because we keep destroying them. Rather than embrace, investigate, learn-from, promote and even profit from our cultural resources, we'd rather borrow money and destroy them for a bridge that we don't even need.
