Before the awards were even held this week, we knew that the Chamber could not resist giving the awards to the highest campaign donators, yet again. Therefore it was no surprise that million dollar village attorney Jim Boan and Tressler Law Firm would win the best professional services award. It was also no surprise that Gordon Biersch, the favorite eating and meeting establishment of the elected officials, would win best restaurant, as well as be a high donator.
We wonder if the Director Mr. Mike Evans gives these awards annually as a joke or because his God Father is Roger and Roger helped him walk into an executive director position with the Chamber.
Although Gordon Biersch is a great restaurant, and at least you can sit in it unlike the last winner as a carry out pizza joint, it is the most active in the community. If you were to ask the residents what the best restaurant is, they would state the obvious from Family Square, Olive Garden, or other more affordable and always packed options. However, the choice is not the residents to vote on, it is for the Chamber leads to vote on.
We still cannot get over the fact that an attorney that charges the tax payers double what he should, would win this award (but then of course he regularly contributes to Roger's pay-to-play campaign fund)! I guess you can never be too surprised in Bolingbrook!
