Last night two banners were intentionally placed on PUBLIC and PRIVATE Property. We were doing a test to see who was taking banners, either on public or private property. The patch blamed Mr. Drey’s Public Works department for all the theft, claiming it was not theft, but policy. We were betting it was someone else. Therefore, we called to see what time code enforcement and the banner/ sign Public Works removal team ended work for the day. We were told they leave work at 4:30pm.
We placed the banner at 6:30pm-8:30pm. When we went to retrieve it at 8:30, the banners were gone.
So who is stealing our banners? Why are they taking them down? The bottom line is the removal was illegal and it had nothing to do with the public works team that is in charge of collections of signs and banners. Someone is removing, vandalizing, and destroying our banners. Anyone that touches a sign on public or private property, other then Public Works PAID employees or the property owner are subjected to being prosecuted by law for theft.
