It is not often we write stories about the Library Board, as we are so focused on the mis-direction of the School Board and the Village Board. While it is true that the Township is also stacked with unethical individuals, we just hardly have time to cover all the offices. We will not make this mistake again, as the Library Board has now shown us how unethical they are. We are going to be on them like the gum on the bottom of a shoe....
In the last library meeting, some ethical and legal decisions were made that would make the residents gasp.
It is true that spending $40 Mil on a library is ridiculous, but we trust that it was the lowest bid, right? Wrong. We heard stories about the friends they paid to do work for the new library, like the logo guy who spent $40G and did not produce anything. We heard stories about the consultant, former library worker, who was getting paid top dollar to build this library while still taking the pension. But wait until you hear the latest scandal. It is no wonder that, according to the Patch, two members of the library think the worst problem in Bolingbrook is news sites like us (not foreclosures, taxes, etc...) Because we are about to EXPOSE them for the deceitful people they are!
Last meeting the discussion was held about Auction proceeds from the sale of old furniture. Formerly we covered that Bob Kalnicky wanted to donate this stuff to H20 or other pet not for profits such as CSC (he sits on the board), instead of offset the cost of library expenses to the taxpayers. He went as far to state it was not a lot of money and it would be good to donate. Previously they cried foul when we covered this story and said they never said H2O. (H20 is Lindsey Claar's organization).
Residents stepped up to argue that the proceeds should remain with the library. One resident was a spitfire about this and fought for justice. Since that is the legal way to do things, we felt that way too. Bob Kalnicky proposed once again, giving it to a local non-profit which helps kids and education. Finally Trustee Graske offered a compromise to donate to "Friends of the Library". Several Trustees said they wanted to vote for Kalnicky's ideas. Peg Danghof then stated their Lawyer said they could not donate this money and the funds would go in the general fund. She then took a vote and mentioned that they could use this on things they did not have money to spend on otherwise... like they could just fret the money away.
So your probably asking how little this money might be... Kalnicky said is was barely anything to the local papers a few weeks back... The amount after auctioneer costs were $24,000!. This is enough to buy a new car!
So instead of voting to apply this to expenses, and taxing people lower next year, they will frivolously spend away the cost of a new car.
So they decided to start spending some of that money on vacations right away. The next action was to be the only library in the area to fly people out on a vacation to attend a conference. So here we go sending three board members to a conference in New Orleans. NO OTHER LIBRARY authorizes expenses like this in the surrounding areas. They just sent them to San Diego in January at a cost of $6,100.00. This must be a LUXURY board position to get these type of perks. Maybe I will run for this board. I would like to take nice vacations to California and to Louisiana on tax payers dimes.
If this is what this board did during ONE meeting, what have they been doing to us for four years? We are on it and we won't let go. We will be pushing for more transparency and start reporting their actions...
For those Board Members who thought we were a problem before, look out because here we come. The Watch Dogs are on the case!

We stand corrected, Mr. Kalnicki is not on the board of CSC, he is actually a paid employee making a nice salary.
