Leroy Brown, Clout, and Mark Crawley

To follow up on the story about Mark Crawley, sign hit man for Roger Claar, we wanted to explain how clout works in Bolingbrook.

Mark is an avid political fan of the incumbents and Roger Claar.  He has put up more signs this election for the incumbents then anyone else.  However, it is not his full time job.  His job, for the last few years has been security for Jane Adams Middle School.

Many wonder how he got his job, but maybe this will shed light onto this subject.

Leroy Brown's job with the school district is the Head of School Security.  This is his job description.

Job Summary:  Performs functions including:  assist in recruiting, training, and evaluating district employed security personnel, and serve as the direct contact with emergency law enforcement agencies including police liaison officers.

In our opinion, it is apparent how Mark Crawley got his job... Political crony clout.

Furthermore, many are wondering what Leroy makes on this job, as he is getting salaries from TWO taxing bodies, the Village and the schools.  His starting salary a few years ago, in a newly created position just for him was as follows:

In four years his salary has gone up tremendously.

His salary went from $50K to $78 K in four years!  That is quite a raise!
Is this also because of the relationship between Roger Claar and school board lead Steve Quigley?  Is this a position by clout as well?

It would seem that many positions are dolled out based on clout and taken out of taxpayers' pockets.  It is this kind of political mentality and nepotism that has caused the taxes in Bolingbrook to rise steadily and the debt to skyrocket.

When people share that it is the school taxes that are the largest part of our tax bills, I would remind that the creation of lucrative positions based on clout costs the schools, and the schools raise the taxes to save the Village Trustees from having to do so.  When you have Village officials, family and friends taking from the schools, you know there is a major problem.
